Amazon Go is the first supermarket without a checkout system. This means that long waiting times at the checkouts are a thing of the past. Customers enter the store, select the products they want and pay via the free Amazon Go app on their smartphone.
How exactly does Amazon Go work?
The billing-free shopping experience uses the same technologies that are used in self-driving cars. The just-walk-out technology automatically recognizes as soon as products are taken from the shelves or put back again. The process is comparable to a virtual shopping cart. Once shopping is complete, customers can simply leave the store. After a short time, you will receive confirmation of your purchase in your Amazon customer account.
What products are available on Amazon Go?
On offer are breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack options prepared by our own chefs and local favorite kitchens and bakeries. The selection of food ranges from staples such as bread and milk, home-made cheese and locally produced chocolates.
For a quick and homemade dinner, you select the right ingredients needed for a meal. Ready-made menus are designed by our own chefs and offered as Amazon Meal Kits. The preparation time is two to three minutes.
Which products are available in my Amazon Go Store?
To find out which products are available nearby, simply open the Amazon Go app. The products are displayed on the “Discover” tab.
How do I shop at Amazon Go?
You need an Amazon account, a newer generation smartphone and the free Amazon Go app. The free app can be downloaded either from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.
The shopping process itself is relatively simple. The Amazon Go app is activated when you enter the store. The cell phone can then disappear into your pocket. It is no longer needed for the shopping process.
The desired products can now be purchased. Once the purchase is complete, you can simply leave the store. After a short time, you will receive a receipt and a charge in your Amazon customer account.
Are there still staff in the Amazon Go supermarket?
Yes, the employees in the Amazon Go supermarket work both in the kitchen and in the store. They prepare ingredients, make ready meals, stock shelves and advise customers. This means that customer advice can be given at any time – as usual.
Why does the Amazon Go Shop exist?
Amazon wanted to create a shopping experience without checkout systems and the associated waiting times. They asked themselves the question: “How can we create a store where customers can simply pick up their products from the shelves and then leave the store without having to wait?” The answer to this question is Amazon Go.
