What is a long tail keyword?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

The term long tail keyword<\/strong> is defined as follows:<\/p>\n\n

In online marketing<\/strong>, the long tail<\/strong> refers to the less frequently used search terms<\/strong> that lead users from search engines<\/strong> to a website<\/strong> or online store<\/strong>. In total, however, these search queries can generate more visitors than a few high-demand terms<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n

Long tail keywords<\/strong> are searched for less frequently than major keywords<\/strong> (main keywords), also known as short tail keywords<\/strong> – but the search query is more precise and better defined<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Long-tail keywords<\/strong> play a particularly important role<\/strong> in the creation of PPC campaigns on Amazon<\/strong>. The more targeted search queries<\/strong> increase the likelihood that customers will find a suitable solution to their specific problem.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n

Amazon Longtail Keyword Research<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

Amazon keyword research<\/strong> is about mapping users’ search queries as accurately as possible<\/strong>. Compared to major keywords<\/strong>, long-tail keywords<\/strong> have significantly fewer views and impressions<\/strong>, but can be very relevant for Amazon Advertising (formerly Amazon Marketing Services)<\/strong> in their entirety. <\/p>\n\n

Another advantage of using long-tail keywords<\/strong> is that the average minimum bid is often lower<\/strong> than for the few highly competitive main keywords.<\/p>\n\n

Many sellers<\/strong> and vendors<\/strong> only concentrate on a few short-tail keywords<\/strong> and neglect the long-tail keywords<\/strong>. As a result, competition for the main keywords<\/strong> is particularly high and fiercely contested<\/strong>. This leads to higher click prices<\/strong> and lower margins<\/strong> for a small group of search terms<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n

There is significantly less competition<\/strong> for long-tail keywords<\/strong> than for the few main keywords. Amazon’s autosuggest function<\/strong>, for example, can be used for basic keyword research<\/strong> (see image). <\/p>\n\n

Amazon automatically creates suggestions for search terms based on the user behavior of customers.<\/strong> The search queries can be several levels deep<\/strong> – as in the example up to the fourth level<\/strong>. The generic term “shoes”<\/strong> leaves many options open, e.g. shoes for women, children or men<\/strong>. Competition<\/strong> for the keyword “shoes”<\/strong> is very high<\/strong>, as this term covers many search queries. <\/p>\n\n

However, if you use a more specific keyword such as “shoes women fall sneakers”,<\/strong> the target group and search intention<\/strong> is much more clearly defined<\/strong>. Although this type of keyword generates significantly fewer impressions than “shoes”<\/strong>, it is much more relevant to the actual search query<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n
